You’re an athlete. You’re a runner. You love to challenge yourself. You’ve run a 5K, a 10K, a marathon. And now you’re ready to move up to an ultra-distance… or get over a failed attempt or disappointing race result. But here’s the thing. You’re not a full-time ultra runner, but you’re trying to train like one.
You have a plan you found from a magazine or website. You up your mileage and paces in the first week and stick with the plan during the second week, even though your shin splints are making a nasty comeback.

You start to feel defeated when you should be feeling confident and strong. You get even more discouraged by another missed long run.
So you give up or pick another random plan from another random website and the cycle repeats itself. First off, let me commend you for your efforts and your drive. It’s what makes us ultra runners special.
But let me tell you…
